Writing accessibly for a lay audience is becoming more and more important for health research and clinical professionals. But it’s an art that many find challenging.

This two hour course will teach you the fundamentals of writing for a lay audience, including:

  • Focusing on key messages
  • Putting yourself in your audience’s shoes
  • Cutting your word count
  • Words and phrases to avoid
  • Using active language

The course is taught by a communications professional with a strong track record of working in several sectors, including charity, public sector and business to business. The course will include a hands on exercise.

The course is accessible and aimed at people working in local authorities, the third sector and the NHS.
