Working at Mental Health and Wellbeing
Professor Dame Carol Black is the Elizabeth Blackwell Annual Public Lecture speaker for 2019. Dame Carol is an expert government advisor on health and work, and an inspirational leader. In this year’s lecture she will talk about her influential campaigns on mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, something of great importance to so many of us.
Dame Carol is Principal of Newnham College Cambridge and Expert Advisor on Health and Work to NHS England and Public Health England. She chairs the board of Think Ahead, the Government’s fast-stream training programme for Mental Health Social Workers.
She has compiled three independent reviews for the UK Government: of the health of the working-age population; of sickness absence in Britain; and more recently of employment outcomes of addiction to drugs or alcohol, or obesity.
Dame Carol is a past-President of the Royal College of Physicians, of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, and of the British Lung Foundation, and past-Chair of the Nuffield Trust for health policy.
This is a free event, seats are unallocated and the talk will start promptly at 6.30 pm so please arrive in plenty of time.
