Dr Penny Whiting
Penny is an epidemiologist with experience of quantitative research, especially in the conduct of systematic reviews. Her research interests include diagnosis, making results of diagnostic accuracy studies easier to understand, and assessing risk of bias. She was involved in the development of the QUADAS and QUADAS-2 tools for diagnostic accuracy studies, the ROBIS tool for systematic reviews, the PROBAST tool for prediction modelling studies, and the ACROBAT-NRS tool for non-randomised (observational) studies.
Within CLAHRC she is leading a variety of quantitative projects covering topics such as nurse led tele-clinics for patients with chronic kidney disease, mobile chemotherapy units, low-emission fleets, preventing post-operative urinary retention and developing plain language summaries for diagnostic reviews.
