Dr Martha Elwenspoek
Martha joined CLAHRC West in November 2017 as a Research Associate in the Epidemiology, Effectiveness and Evidence synthesis teams. She carries out Applied Health Research by undertaking data collection and contributing to systematic reviews, data preparation and analysis.
Martha completed her Bachelors and Masters degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Groningen (the Netherlands). Before starting a PhD, she worked as a research assistant on a clinical study at the NeuroCenter of the University Hospital of Freiburg (Germany) investigating ways to improve stroke recovery.
During her PhD at the Luxembourg Institute of Health (Luxembourg) and Trier University (Germany), she studied the long-term effects of childhood adversity on the immune system.
